The pavement and extension of rugged mountainous roads in the district of Habish

In cooperation with Search for Common Ground Organization and the funding of the British Foreign Office, Wama Org. for Development and Human Rights has carried out a project of paving and extending some of the rugged mountainous roads in Naqil Al-Taqaa, Naqil Saif, and Naqil Al-Ja'aferah which connect the surrounding sub-districts with the center of the district of Habish in Ibb Governorate. The roads used to be difficult and time consuming to cross forcing girls to drop schools and many patients died or pregnant women aborted while being moved to the center of the district. Because some roads are close to private lands, several conflicts took place whenever the residents desired to rehabilitate or expand the roads. Such conflicts sometimes led to killings, so this intervention came after several community gatherings in which existing conflicts were resolved. Funding was also awarded to rehabilitate these areas, pave and extend the roads so as to achieve social peace among the community and to find common ground that contribute to effective participation to create an atmosphere of peace, security and stability.
